Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings entered to the Champions League T20 as they ended up being the top three teams at the end of this year’s Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians face a couple of obstacles to get into the champions league as they still have to go through the playoffs.
The Mumbai Indians got beaten by the Chennai Super Kings in the eliminator and hence hve dropped a spot in the standings finishing fourth this year in the Indian Premier League. Due to this they will have to play the playoffs of the Champions League T20 to make it to the finals.
Delhi Daredevils and the Kolkata Knight Riders who finished off in the top two positions respectively have both ensured their presence in the Champions League T20.
As for the third placed Mumbai Indians and fourth placed Chennai Super Kings, they had to play an eliminator. The winner of which would progress to the Champions League and the loser would have to play in the playoffs and then progress to the Champions League.
The top T20 sides of various countries who won their domestic competitions from around the world clash together to get the crown of, ‘Champions’ in this competition called the Champions League.
The Mumbai Indians are the current Champions League title holders but face a tough battle to even qualify for this year’s competition. The draw for the playoffs has yet to be announced.
